Past Projects

    • Ts3Annotation

A framework for semantic annotation and time series search.
    • AMIB - Algorithms for Managing Images in Biodiversity

      No description.
    • BioCORE

The goal of the project is to specify and develop computational tools to allow biodiversity researchers to manage and share data, helping them in the construction of complex models and in ecosystems modeling, including the discovery of relationships and interactions between species. Based on Web services, these tools will help support the cooperation between researchers in biological sciences belonging to groups with different interests and vocabularies.
    • MediaBank

Producing and Publishing Component-based Digital Content Building Blocks
    • WeBIOS

The goal of the project is to provide scientists who work in environmental/biodiversity issues with a system that supports exploratory multimodal queries over heterogeneous biodiversity data sources. These sources include images (photos of living beings or their habitats), geographic data, ontologies, domain-specific metadata, as well as data on collections, species and so on."
    • Managing satellite image databases for agro-environmental monitoring

This project concerns joint research between LIS and the International University of Bremen (IUB) to investigate the integration of large volumes of satellite images, to support agro-environmental planning. Some of the implementation activities involve the Rasdaman software, developed at IUB.
    • eFarms – a two-way road from small farms to the networked world

Multidisciplinary project combining research in Computer Science and Agriculture. Funded by the FAPESP-Microsoft Research Virtual Institute.
    • Web-MAPS - a Semantic Web System to support Agro-environmental planning

The WebMAPS project is a multidisciplinary effort involving computer scientists and experts on agricultural and environmental sciences. The project`s goal is to develop a platform based on Web services for agro-environmental planning.
